About Us

Barre Revolution is a Barre teacher training course created by Nicola Lubbe and Marise Moolman.
Barre is a low-impact, high-intensity fitness workout. Barre a fusion between ballet-inspired movements, Pilates as well as strength training.
Nicola Lubbe is a qualified Cecchetti Classical Ballet teacher as well as a Pilates teacher. Having danced at a professional level, Nicola has ensured that the ballet component of the method is accurate and of a high standard.
Marise is a qualified Comprehensive Pilates teacher with over 13 years experience in the field. Additionally, she is a qualified pre- and postnatal Pilates instructor who ensures quality of movement and safety of clients.
Combining their years of experience in the dance and Pilates industries, Nicola and Marise created Barre Revolution to offer a high quality Barre Teacher Training course to aspiring instructors in South Africa.

What to expect?
The course consists of two days. Both days start with a Barre class taught by the course creators. The course consists of theory as well as working through repertoire.
Cost of attending:
R4950 per person. two day course, includes printed manual. The course investment excludes the exam fee.

Who is the course suitable for?
The course is suitable for aspiring Barre instructors wanting to work as professionals in the fitness industry. The course is also suited to clients or individuals wanting to learn more about Barre in general allowing them to get more out of their personal practice by diving deeper into the method.
What happens after the course?
If you would like to work as a professional Barre instructor, you will need to complete the required practical, teaching, and observation hours in addition to your training.
To Become a Certified Instructor, You Will Need to Complete:
Teaching Hours
15 teaching hours
These hours can be completed at Nova Core, online, from the comfort of your own home, in a park, or any suitable teaching environment where you are able to lead participants through a Barre class.
Practical and Observation Hours
10 practical hours and 5 observation hours
These hours must be completed either at Nova Core or online. Barre Revolution provides pre-recorded classes that may be used to fulfill these requirements.
Important Reminder
The practical exam and the required teaching, practical, and observation hours are optional and are not required to complete the Barre course.
However, these requirements must be completed if you wish to qualify and work as a professional Barre instructor through the Barre Revolution certification pathway.
Exam Requirements
For your practical exam, you will be required to teach a 55-minute Barre class.
Exam Fee: R1500
You have two options for completing your exam:

In-Person Exam – This can be completed at Nova Core if you are based in Cape Town. Alternatively, you may complete the exam in person in your city when we return for a future course.

Online Exam – If you are not based in Cape Town, you may choose to complete your exam online. The class must be recorded by you and shared with the Barre Revolution team for assessment. An online feedback session will be scheduled following the review of your recording.
You will need to bring or invite a minimum of two participants to attend your exam class as clients.
Your exam will be assessed by Marise and Nicola. Following the assessment, you will receive a 20–30 minute feedback session.
